5-year-old Audrey was born with her lungs connected to her stomach and an incomplete esophagus (Long Gap EA/TEF or Esophageal Atresia). After two big surgeries and 142 days in the NICU in Utah, Audrey finally moved home but has since needed much more surgery, now in Boston. Much of her food still comes through a tube directly into her stomach, and she has had many procedures to help her swallow food, but she is thriving today. ReplyDeleteYour story is so moving. Just read through many of your posts but see that the last update is 2013. Just wanted to know how things turned out for you guys and Audrey? Prayerfully she is leading a normal healthy life now ad done with having to go through anymore surgeries.
My wife and I are concerned we may be at the beginning of a similar journey. Your story is very encouraging and very scary at the same time! Thank you for posting.
Hi Frank, I'm sorry that I got so behind on the blog. I needed to take a break to take care of my family and work through some of the emotions of this overwhelming journey a bit more privately for a time, but I finally updated it just this week. Please let me know how things are going for your family. Each EA/TEF journey is unique but we families can be such a strength to one another. Wishing you well!
